Tin-Pot Dictator

The Tin-Pot Dictator, standing in the geometric cave, has shaped the world in their own image with twisted shapes and failed forms all around them.

This model is constructed using the guidelines for creating a Light Modulator as codified and exemplified by László Maholy-Nagy’s and his Light Space Modulator. There are elements of this structure which shape the beam, causing a variety of effects such as pinpricks of light piecing through the tattered drop and highlights where creases and gaps exist in the paper and foil structure. These work to reveal both the environment of the modulator as well as altering the light itself. Concurrently, there is detail in the figurine which, like the foil, is malleable as the light plays across it.
